Verse of the Day

Verse of the day
Jesus twice wrote on the ground.

For Saturday, July 27 2024, Verse of the Day.

Again, he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

— John 8:8   Verse of the Day.

Thoughts on Today’s Verse of the Day….

In a few short words, Jesus is reported to have written on the ground twice (John 8:6). He kept writing until all the accusers had left (John 8:9–10)!

The Bible says nothing about the details Jesus etched in the dust. The fact that He brings it up multiple times implies that it’s a crucial component of His answer. It’s possible that He was writing passages from the Old Testament to bolster His argument.

Alternatively, as some have proposed, He might have taken down the names and transgressions of a few of the women’s accusers. Whatever He wrote, it is reasonable to believe that it contributed to the Pharisees’ and Scribes’ failure to pursue their goal.

Verse of the day: The law mandates the punishment of both guilty parties.

Generally speaking, Jesus responds by demonstrating that the rabble that brought this lady is not attempting to abide by the law—either in text or spirit. According to Leviticus 20:10 and Deuteronomy 22:22, adulterers must be stoned to death.

However, the law stipulates that this punishment must be applied to both guilty parties. This is not a guilty man in sight!

Furthermore, according to the Torah (Deuteronomy 17:7), the one who accuses another must start the punishment himself.

The Old Testament demands holiness as much as it demands proper judgement and kindness (Proverbs 21:10; Zechariah 7:8–9; Matthew 23:23). This leads to a total turnaround, as does Jesus’ questioning of the accusers’ moral arguments. Every challenger departs (John 8:9). —Verse of the Day.

My Prayer…

“And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,” Luke 4:1.

The Holy Ghost will give me divine directions and lead me in all situations today and forever. The Holy Ghost will build me into the fullness of Christ. May the Lord be my shield as I journey by the Holy Spirit. I returned that evil arrow of stroke to its sender.

I see God perfecting every imperfection in my life, for my days of stagnation and sorrow are over.

It is well with me. Verse of the Day.

Who can fathom the power of the Lord?

Genesis 1:28 —Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Philippians 2:9 -11 —Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Luke 11:4—Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Luke 10:19 —Behold, I give you the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: nothing shall hurt you by any means.

Romans 8:38 —38— For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 54:17 —No weapon formed against thee shall prosper, and thou shalt condemn every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment. This is the heritage of the LORD’s servants, whose righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Ephesians 6:10 —12— Finally, be strong in the Lord and his mighty power. Put on the full Armor of God to take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
