Verse of the Day

For Wednesday, 13 May 2026, Verse of the Day.
“In the visions I saw while lying in bed, I looked, and there before me was a holy one, a messenger, coming down from heaven.
—Daniel 4:13 Verse of the Day
Thoughts on Today’s Verse of the Day
As in Babylon, a council of deities was believed to watch over the world. Nebuchadnezzar describes his dream (Daniel 4:4–5), which features an image of a large, productive, and respected tree (Daniel 4:10–12). Subsequently, the king observed a heavenly being. Religions
While Nebuchadnezzar would interpret “holy” as “godlike,” Daniel understood it as “set apart unto God for His service.” Although Nebuchadnezzar might have assumed the spirit he saw was a god, Daniel recognised it as an angel.
The modern term “angel” derives from a Greek word, and in both Greek and Hebrew, the word for an “angel” literally means “messenger.” In Hebrew thought, angels were regarded as servants of God who delivered His messages, rather than as fully independent spiritual beings.
Revelation 14:10 refers to God’s holy angels as witnesses to the punishment of those who worship the beast and his image during the tribulation period. An angel is a messenger, as seen when one spoke to Mary about the Son who would be born to her (Luke 1:26-33). Angels also served as God’s messengers, announcing to the shepherds the good news of Jesus’ birth (Luke 2:8-14). — Verse of the Day.
My Prayer…
Remind us that every experience is a stepping stone to growth, and instil in us a deep sense of hope for the future in line with Your plan for us.
May we always turn to You for guidance, protection, and strength, trusting that Your plan for us is purposeful and promising as we do Your will.
We place our trust in You, Lord, knowing You are the source of all peace, prosperity, and comfort. Help us to rely on You in moments of doubt and to rejoice with You in times of joy and in Your goodness. — verse of the day.
