Verse of the Day

Verse of the day
Jesus protected his disciples by the Father’s power.

For Friday, 17 April 2025, Verse of the Day.

While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by the name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled.

— John 17:12  Verse of the Day

Thoughts on Today’s Verse of the Day

During His earthly ministry, Jesus provided spiritual correction (Matthew 8:26; Mark 8:33; Luke 24:25) and physical protection (Mark 4:39) to the disciples. In a very real sense, Jesus was “right there” to keep them from being taken away (John 10:28).

His guardianship was tangible and personal. However, as a physical human being, Jesus cannot be visibly accessible to everyone everywhere at once. To spread the gospel across the entire world (Acts 1:8), the primary connection between God and believers must be the Holy Spirit (John 14:16–21; 16:7).

As Jesus prepares for His arrest and crucifixion (John 18:1–3), He affirms that those He has been given (John 17:6) have been protected. Earlier, Jesus stated that He had shared God’s message with His inner circle (Matthew 10:1–4; John 17:6–8).

Among that group was Judas, whom Jesus always knew was a false believer (John 6:64; 13:21). Judas alone among the Twelve chose to ignore what he saw in Christ, leading to his own ruin (Mark 14:21). Christ knew this was a necessary part of God’s plan to redeem mankind (John 3:16). Verse of the Day.

My Prayer…

Dear Divine Source of Abundance, I come before You in gratitude, seeking guidance and wisdom on my journey towards prosperity.

Grant me the insight to recognise opportunities and the strength to pursue them with integrity. May my endeavours be blessed with creativity and diligence, fostering not only my success but also the well-being of those around me.

Guide me to generously share the fruits of my labour, spreading hope and kindness throughout the world. Amen. — verse of the day.

Verse of the day
Who can fathom the power of the Lord?

Genesis 1:28 – Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves on the earth.

Mark 12:30-31 – Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.

Genesis 8:22 – “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”The Psalm of Victory 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. The Lord provides for us more generously than our hearts can desire. The enemies can do nothing about God’s generosity but can only watch and admire the victory the Lord has given us.

Romans 8:38 – 38 – For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against thee shall prosper, and thou shalt condemn every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment. This is the heritage of the LORD’s servants, whose righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.

Ephesians 6:12 – For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

Psalm 121: 5-8 – The Lord watches over you; the Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and going, both now and forevermore.

Psalm 24: 1-2- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.
