Verse of the DayÂ

For Sunday, 11Â Jan, 2025, Verse of the Day.
Salmon, the father of Boaz; Boaz, the father of Obed,
—Ruth 4:21  Verse of the Day.
Thoughts on Today’s Verse of the Day
Obed, the son of Boaz and Ruth, is finally introduced to David’s lineage. However, biblical experts need clarification on this verse and the following. According to Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus, Rahab and Salmon were married (Matthew 1:5). Boaz’s mother is Rahab.
There is every reason to believe this is the Rahab who hid the spies in Jericho (Joshua 2:6), especially since Salmon’s father, Nahshon, was the leader of the tribe of Judah during the exodus (Numbers 2:3). The only other women Matthew mentions, Tamar and Ruth, are either foreigners or entered the lineage under questionable circumstances.
Accordingly, Salmon was probably between the ages of 20 and 40 in 1406 BC, when the Israelites arrived in the Promised Land. Sometime after 1040 BC, Salmon has Boaz, Boaz has Obed, Obed has Jesse, and Jesse has David. If Boaz, Obed, and Jesse had their sons at 100, and Salmon had been thirty when he arrived in the Promised Land, this would work.
Jacob prophesied that Judah would rule over his brothers.
It is more likely to be interpreted as Jewish. The accolade was assigned to Jews occupying the fifth and seventh positions on a list. Nahshon, the leader of the tribe of Judah during the exodus (Numbers 1:7; 2:3; 7:12), is the sixth name mentioned in Ruth 4:18–21.Â
The protagonist, Boaz, ranks seventh. Ten generations also mark a significant cultural shift, such as the line from Adam to Noah in Genesis 5, and Noah’s son Shem to Abraham in Genesis 11.Â
According to Jacob’s prophecy (Genesis 49:8–10), Judah, the father of this tribe, will rule over his brothers. The majority of scholars believe that Samuel wrote the book of Ruth. Zvi Ron, an academic, explains,
The ten-person list marks the shift from the Patriarchs to David’s legitimate monarchy. In other words, Samuel increased support for David against Saul, who was descended from Benjamin rather than Judah. — Verse of the Day.
My Prayer…
Heavenly Father, as I stand before You, I humbly ask for Your grace to renew my heart and spirit.
Please cleanse me of any doubts and despair, and fill me anew with faith and hope. May Your love guide my thoughts and actions, enabling me to reflect Your light in the world.
Awaken within me a tender compassion for others, so that I may serve as a vessel of Your peace and joy. I ask this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. — verse of the day.Â

Genesis 1:28 – Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, and every living thing that moves on the earth.
Exodus 34:10 – The Lord said, “I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people, I will do wonders that have never been done in any nation worldwide. The people you live among will see how excellent the work that I, the Lord, will do for you.Â
Genesis 8:22 – “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease.”The Psalm of Victory 23:5 – You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. The Lord provides for us more generously than our hearts can desire. The enemies can do nothing about God’s generosity but can only watch and admire the victory the Lord has given us.
Romans 8:38 – 38 – For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Isaiah 54:17 – No weapon formed against thee shall prosper, and thou shalt condemn every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment. This is the heritage of the LORD’s servants, whose righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Genesis 1:1 – In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. We shall largely adhere to the essential, fundamental, and unambiguous concepts. The Bible’s opening statements unequivocally declare that God, who we will eventually learn to be the God of Israel, created the earth and the sky. In other words, He made everything in the natural universe, including our globe and everything on it, the skies, the heavens, and outer space.
